[Sept. 2023] The Library will open soon!
September 2023. The Library will open soon!
After almost 1 year of work in the Library, the spaces are almost ready to welcome users again. Opening is scheduled week 39 to be confirmed.
Collections and furniture have been moved within the Library again which now need final set-up for full access and borrowing.
August 2022. Actual ISU library spaces will be closing for renovation on September 5 and re-locate in temporary spaces.
- Core collection
A core collection containing about 5,000 books, reflecting the last 10 years of active titles, will be moved to a temporary space in the former Team Project room next to the Cosmos auditorium. All other books and reports will be moved to the Karl Doetsch auditorium, while the periodical collection will be stored at a remote location.
All new locations will be indicated in the library online catalog and users will continue to have access to the needed material for study and research.
The current location of the Library will undergo renovations to better accommodate student learning and community gathering with new closed working rooms for TP groups, spaces for individual study, brighter spaces and a new librarian desk, and facilities which should enable longer opening hours at evenings.
- Collection move
The goal of any library move is to safely relocate your collections with care, precision and integrity. Planning a major shift of a library collection is not as complex as it is tedious! Careful measurement of linear meters to set up the temporary spaces, and re-locating items in the online catalog need attention to details and take a lot of time!
A move also presents a one-off chance for improving collection care and management, an opportunity to undertake a stock audit, rearrange and upgrade storage, improve housekeeping, and to clean, stabilize and re-locate collections.

Part of ISU building renovation, the Library re-imagines how physical spaces are used in academic libraries. The project was designed to foster connections between people, collections and ideas. This design sets a new standard for welcoming, inclusive, and healthy campus.
We envision flexible, collaborative, and dynamic spaces that respond to the research and learning needs of our students.
This is a place where students, faculty, researchers and staff can study alone or collaboratively in addition to offering resources to find information. On any given day, students can work with other students, meet and work with faculty, discuss with entrepreneurs, find references and use books for research needs. A top priority for these learning commons is to connect students to technology and information.
- Study and collaborative reading room
It features curated library collections, spaces for quiet individual study and comfortable seating for relaxing, help for library expert with a new circulation and reference desk next to the entrance. Find out how the librarian can help with specific subjects, literature searches, referencing and much more.
Collections and book shelves will be located at the back of the Library, in a space which is lockable and delimited with nice wooden claustras.
This space will be available from 9am to 10pm for current faculty, students and staff.
The design of that space also maximizes the natural light that the users have always loved.
This design extends into the terrace and brings the welcoming space of the library into a nice wooden terrace.
- First floor - Mezzanine
A new central stair make the library's many spaces more visible and accessible to visitors.
Each room has transparent glass walls as well as wall-mounted monitors, white boards, movable chairs and tables.
