University and public libraries in Strasbourg
UNIVERSITY LIBRARIES
As a student, you have access to multiple university libraries in Strasbourg:
Set up all over the campuses, the 26 university libraries cover all subjects and domains. They provide access to over a million books, plenty of online resources, over 5,000 study seats, and numerous services. The National and university library of Strasbourg (Bibliothèque nationale et universitaire - BNU), 2nd biggest in France, is also open to students.
Register to obtain your 'Pass BU Alsace' and enjoy full benefits like borrowing books, group study rooms, and access to eBooks or databases, on-site.
1. Pre-register with the online form (Name, address, email, upload ID card or passport, proof of address and ID picture)
2. Pay the registration fees, in person at:
STUDIUM Library: from Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm - pay by cash or credit card
SANTE Library: from Monday to Friday from 8.30am to 5.30pm - pay by cash
3. You will receive an email when your 'PASS BU ALSACE' Library card will be ready and you have to pick it up at one of the above Library.
Note: registration is also possible at the Bibliothèque nationale et universitaire (Bnu) in Strasbourg. If you plan to mainly use Bnu services, please register directly with the Bnu library.

Also, some have the NoctamBU+ label, which means that they operate extended opening hours on evenings and on weekends.
STRASBOURG PUBLIC LIBRARIES
There are 29 public libraries in Strasbourg and its metropolitan area. They hold extensive collections of materials covering all fields. They all provide computer and internet access and organize many cultural events throughout the year. Borrowing documents requires registration but access to materials and services is free and available to all.
Registering with a Public Library enables you to borrow documents and access online resources (press and self-training, mainly in french).
The Pass'relle card is a single card, valid for 1 year, which allows you to borrow documents from the network of 34 public libraries.

You can choose between several subscription formulas:
- Abonnement livres
Full price: 8.40 euros - Half price for students: 4.20 euros
With this subscription, you can borrow: books, comics, audio books, language methods, sheet music, magazines, digital books and consult digital magazines and online training courses. - Abonnement multimédia
Full price: 26 euros - Half price for students: 13 euros
In addition to the items listed for abonnement livres, you can also borrow CDs, DVDs and Blu-Rays.
