Reservations/ Placing Holds
Oh nooo, the book you ABSOLUTELY wanted to read is already taken out by another customer.... Don't hesitate, place a hold on it!
What is a hold?
A hold is an online request to have a book reserved for you. You should place a hold if the item you want is currently on loan to another customer.
How do I place a hold on the website?
To place a hold, sign in on the Library portal with your ISU ID credentials. Then do a search for the item you are looking for and click on the Place on Hold button.
Once the hold is successful, you will receive a confirmation message.
How can I see what I have on hold?
Sign in to your account with your ISU ID credentials. In the menu, go to My account, then click on the My Holds tab to see everything you have on hold.
What does the hold position mean?
When your hold has the description "2", it means that you are the second person on the waiting list for that title.
If you don't need the book anymore, you can cancel your request with the button Clear the hold.
How long will it take to get my holds?
This depends on the availability of the item and/or the number of people ahead of you on the waiting list. If there is a big waiting list for an item, it will take longer.
How will I know when my holds are available for pickup?
You will be notified by email when you holds become available.
How much time do I have to pick up my holds at the Library?
You have 5 days to pick up your hold before it will be placed to the shelves again or made available for the next customer.
