Description: | Given the upcoming space project to explore our solar system with a growing number of crews, the issue of power should be tackled. A short analysis shows that a minimum of 1MW to 3MW should be reached for the power supply. Two technologies are competing to design a unit that is adaptable to any kind of mission (Mars exploration and settlement, deep space exploration, large-scale space stations…). In the end, the fission technology is, in short-term, the only achievable right now and can already provide interesting results. The fusion technology is an excellent option for long-term. |
