Description: | With the development of space research, more and more microgravity experiments are needed to implement based on the ground facilities, one of which is drop tower. A design of 4s variable gravity drop tower, which will use linear motor for the acceleration as well as the deceleration, is proposed in this individual project report. Suggestion concerning linear motor is based on the mature production on present market. The form of experimental capsule is discussed, including its mass, shape and single or double capsule. The ability of drop tower with 0g to 1g variable gravity condition is analyzed in this report as well. Further research on cost and structure of drop tower is suggested for the next stage to build the 4s drop tower using linear motor. |
