Description: | This report characterizes the mechanical properties attainable through the manufacture of lunar regolith. Firstly, the properties of lunar regolith are studied in terms of composition and particle morphology. Next, as a lunar regolith simulant is used in this test plan, as well as in most experimental studies, the properties of JSC-1A, a common lunar regolith simulant, are presented. Next, a test procedure highlights potential impacts to manufacturing processes and final part properties arising from addition of CaO to regolith. Finally, recommendations for future studies are proposed. |
