Description: |
This report aims to set a baseline for future work undertaken at the International Space University to develop a CubeSat solar panel assembly. A quick assessment of the CubeSat components market shows just how expensive subsystems are, from an academic point of view. This project suggests producing solar panels in-house as the best option available, and to serve this purposed presents the reader with a materials selection rationale, that can be applied to various sub-components and interfaces of the solar panel assembly. Finally, it presents a simple solar panel PCB design, along with a solar panel assembly using Siliconbased
solar cells, Kapton tape and Silicone adhesive. The report concludes with a four-step logical work-flow to manufacture the solar panel in-house. |
