Description: | This report performs a review of the science and technology of Space Mining. By presenting the knowledge that is available in terms of resources present in the solar system, the advantages and disadvantages of each celestial body as a mining target are given. This shows that the first reasonable targets for mining missions and sustainable mining operations are the Moon and the asteroids. By presenting the steps needed to perform mining missions and the main technologies involved in each step, it is shown that the majority of technologies are within current capabilities, even if on the cutting edge. |
