Description:
|
Space is now widely recognized as a highly strategic sector enabling a wide array of services and applications for governments, businesses and citizens across numerous economic sectors. Expected benefits have largely fuelled the growing effort from European countries to pool resources and develop capabilities in space systems production, operation and exploitation. These efforts were supported by a significant public investment in space programs over the past 60 years, establishing Europe as one of the key player worldwide. Given the extent of public funding and in order to maximize impacts of investment in space assets, a legitimate need arises to ensure expected socio-economic benefits from space programs and initiatives do materialize to the fullest extent possible.
