Description: | In 2007 NASA presented its in-situ resource utilization architecture. It comprised multipleobjectives, such as the development of lunar ISRU capabilities for exploration, operationalexperience and mission validations for Mars, in addition to the use of it for spacecommercialization. This report starts by analyzing the lunar geological composition and the environmentalfactors that took part in its formation. It then explores the behavior of the regolith and thepotential use of it, as well as its applications such as oxygen and water production that arecrucial for facilitating the human activities on the Moon. Based on the analysis of variousmethods and prototypes, this project proposes a set of recommendations for further workneeded to be done in the direction of lunar ISRU. |
