Description: | Every year, multiple space conferences are offered worldwide. Similarly, many academic institutions offer annual education in space-related topics. However, these conferences and education programs oftentimes present significantly overlapping aims and scope, which can lead to very similar presented topics suitable for a small number of audiences. While duplications in space material can be positive at times, frequent replications can overshadow other important information. This project analyzed a series of 171 space conferences and education programs to identify trends in material offerings and note duplications in primary areas such as topic area, target audience, cost, frequency, location, and virtual communication. These duplications were used in turn to determine areas of unmet needs and provide suitable recommendations for mitigating duplication and thereby addressing gaps in space communication. The identified duplications and unmet needs within illustrate a lack of organization in and a point to a general ineffectiveness of space communication efforts. |
