Description: | Since 1983, the world has enjoyed free access to Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS), creating a setting where anyone can pinpoint their location using this space application. The technology is ubiquitous in the modern world, or the Age of GNSS, with countless applications and billions of dependent devices globally. Celestial navigation and other methods are far from obsolete, though they have also changed with the times. This paper is written to present celestial navigation and GNSS in their historical and modern contexts and address benefits and shortfalls of each. The application of celestial navigation methods and combined methods for future exploration of the Solar System is also investigated. |
