Description: | Climate change imposes a present and urgent threat to the sustainability of Earth. Advancements in space science knowledge and technology can support efforts to maintain the sustainability of the Earth. The exponential developments also key drivers shaping space policies, laws, economy and business management. This evolutionary pace could push the limit of scientific, technological and human ethical behaviours. Traditional messaging in these areas is sometimes lost in politics, bound in law, miscommunicated or simply boring. This project takes a creative approach for understanding and addressing these issues through the form of short science fiction stories. Narratives, provide an excellent method for imparting these concepts. The current project presents six short stories following six of the International Space University’s disciplines: Science, Applications, Engineering, Human Performance in Space, Management & Business and Policy, Economy & Law. The stories illustrate a hypothetical future and draw upon potential scenarios in ethical and sustainable development of space science and technology. A non-traditional approach for communicating these messages through narratives reaches a deeper level of emotional response. It will provoke readers to question their own actions, subjective biases and ways of thinking. Overall, this project emphasizes the necessity for creative thinking in science and technological fields. |
