Description: | Climate and environmental change is the great challenge of our time. Scientists and climate activists express their concern every day, trying to explain to the world that actions are needed now. However, to fully understand what the real changes that are affecting our planet are, it is necessary to study the interactions that regulate the Earth system. This work analyzes the existing rationale of climate and environmental changes, reporting how humanity arrived at the current comprehension of natural phenomena, and what are the current theories related to the Earth system. The scientific background is then coupled with a research about the social involvement in climate and environmental changes, namely anthropogenic causes of climate change and societys answers to this challenge. The results of this research contribute to support the thesis that the study of the Earth system needs a multidisciplinary approach. The latter is already used by different international and research bodies that investigate climate and environmental changes. Nevertheless, the idea is to highlight how this approach can be the best way to face the topic and to use it to raise awareness among people about the Earth system mechanisms and changes. |
