Description: | Satellite navigation system revolutionised dramatically within the last two decades. New countries are developing their own navigation system along with the already available fully deployed and operational systems. Six countries have established their own satellite navigation system so far and more than 100 satellites are dedicated for serving navigation purposes. This decade is about turning out from Global Positioning system (GPS) to Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS). This situation is popularly known as Multi-GNSS. Seamless, robust and independent position solution is easily possible with Multi-GNSS only when the system integration, compatibility, interoperability and transparency among the systems are properly taken into consideration. Interoperability is about using multiple systems together with their full capability, whereas, compatibility addresses the issue of using the systems together without any interference and without adversely affecting the systems. This report will address the issue of interoperability and compatibility among the systems and analyse the level of compatibility and interoperability among different systems for having the full benefits of using them together and improve the confidence of using them by the user community. |
