The paper "ESG and Space - Understanding ESG towards sustainable development" is a study that examines Environmental, Social, and Governance practices in the space industry, providing insights for the sector to adapt and thrive in an increasingly ESG-focused business environment. It suggests that by addressing ESG concerns proactively, companies can meet regulatory requirements, create positive social and environmental impact, drive innovation, and attract responsible investment.
In collaboration with international satellite operator SES S.A., the study involved surveys and interviews with the general public, members of the space sector, and SES employees to understand the current state and future direction of ESG practices. The study emphasizes the need for the space industry to address ESG concerns, highlighting the importance of an internal to external ESG movement. Employees and industry members are critical game-changers in corporation operations that aim to improve the environment and the community.
The study provides valuable insights for stakeholders looking to drive positive change in the sector and highlights the need to strengthen belief in ESG as newer, greener regulations emerge. In unison, this research offers a unique and insightful perspective on the role of ESG in the rapidly evolving space industry.
