Description: |
The "ALERTS" project defines the separate and cooperative tasks of astronauts and robots in lunar exploration based on acceptable astronaut risks and robotic capabilities. A risk analysis was performed on common tasks identified between various agencies' lunar base plans, to prioritze them. The most risky tasks were used as the basis for designing a decision tree that provides a rational method for recommending robotic platforms to assist astronauts with their tasks with the goal of increasing crew safety.
Additional consideration of ethical, legal, and interdisciplinary issues provide a comprehensive means for investigating the complex relationship between robotic systems and future lunar astronaut crews to maximize the safety benefits. |
