The EGNOS and Galileo programmes were initiated in the mid 1990s with the aim of establishing a European Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS). EGNOS is a regional satellite based augmentation system for Europe that improves the signals coming from existing satellite navigation systems
such as GPS. Galileo is currently under development as Europe’s Global Satellite Navigation System. |
