Description: | This report discuss GPS occultation atmosphere detect history, method, project and future technology trend. Firstly, the report introduced the GPS System and the theory of GPS occultation atmospheric sounding. Secondly, the report gives a review about the GPS radio occultation techniques, methods, and inversion algorithm that have been developed to measure the ionospheric electron density profile and neutral atmospheric meteorological field. And some GPS occultation satellite systems and their achievements are introduced. Thirdly, the report discuss trend of technology and satellite system of GPS occultation. Finally, the author proposed that Cubesat and hosted payload can be used to develop a simple and cheap GPS occultation satellite system. Comparing those two methods by cost, operation period, and coverage, a conclusion when and where the Cubesat or hosted payload is the best resolution is given. |
